What profession were you in before you started creating content, and when did you decide to take the plunge?
After my master’s, I decided to utilise my free time by making videos about what I learned in college. The plan was to make one video every day on a new topic related to technology and explain it to people in the easiest possible way. That’s how it all started.
When you started content creation, did you ever think you’d grow so much?
No, the idea was never about the numbers, whether the number of followers, subscribers, or viewership. I started the channel because I had free time, and I have always been the person who guides people when it comes to technology. So I thought, why not take it to the next level and talk online? I never even imagined that after five years or two years of doing this, this is what the returns would be.
Any tips for budding creators? How is it different now than it was when you first started?
I think it’s easier now, and the reason I say this is that the resources are easily available today. Just try bringing in your flavours in your style, and don’t look at the numbers because, with time, numbers will surely come in.
How cluttered is your space and what do you do to stand out?
Nowadays, there are two kinds of creators in each category: the ones who are focused and the others who are into experiments. In the tech space, many creators are pretty organised because everyone has an agenda, and they know that this is what I’m supposed to do.
Any crazy fan stories?
The subscribers try to guess the hotel that I’m staying in by looking at the wall paintings, the background noise of a train passing, or tracking my home location on Google Maps. I mean, I feel happy meeting all my subscribers, and it’s always a pleasure, but I don’t like it when someone uses their time to do all this.
Tell us about a brand you really enjoyed creating content for.
I love all the brands that I work with, and the reason for that is that I am very picky. I say no to a lot of brands coming around because I’m not comfortable. So all the brands that I have been working with have been super fun to work with. And that’s the reason I have been working along.
You can’t take long breaks from the internet, and no matter how you feel, you have to show up regularly. Do you sometimes feel under pressure to be consistent and post content regularly?
I have never missed a day since I started my journey, and when I say never, it means never. I never felt pressure because I enjoy doing this. Nowadays, it’s not too difficult to shoot content in advance and plan your days. So, that’s how I manage to take breaks, go on vacation with my family, and have a nice, balanced life.
What was the defining moment for you?
The defining moment came this year on March 8th during India’s 1st National Creators Awards ceremony, where the honourable Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi, awarded me the “Best Tech Creator” award.
How is content creation different from other professions? What are the perks and challenges?
If you love what you do and can make a career out of it, I think there’s nothing better than that. The perks are endless, but the challenges are also there. For instance, you can’t do things like ordinary people do, like having a pani puri from a local stall in Delhi.
Tell us about the ups and downs you’ve experienced before you got this far.
I have always been chilled and happy because, for me, it’s just a hobby. Even if it were the worst days, I would still be happy. Even if it were the best of the days, I would still accept that with full humility. In the end, the journey is what matters the most
Which is your most viral reel? How long did it take you to create it, and did you anticipate its success? Reel Link
As far as I remember, the most viral reel should have been close to 100 million. The reel features Carryminati and me having fun in Las Vegas, and we spent almost no time on it.
Who are your favorite content creators and who do you wish to collaborate with?
I would say everyone, but I would not take any particular name because I have huge respect for everyone in this profession and know what it takes.
What’s next for you?
I’m enjoying my journey, and it’s been a fantastic ride so far. I think moving forward, it will be kind of in the same space where I would want to tell people what’s good for them and what’s not good for them through my channels.
