International content creators Jackson O’Doherty and Kristen Hanby recently touched down in India, embracing the country’s vibrant culture with enthusiasm. From rikshaw rides to savoring authentic South Indian cuisine, their journey is shaping up to be an unforgettable experience.
A Grand Welcome to India
The duo landed in India on Friday and were met with a warm reception. “We received a very friendly welcome when we arrived. There was a tuk-tuk waiting with our names on it,” Jackson shared, highlighting the hospitality they experienced. The first day itself was packed with cultural immersion as they indulged in South Indian food, which they described as “tasty and awesome.”
Kristen was equally impressed by India’s bustling energy. “I knew it was going to be cool, but it has exceeded my expectations. Everyone is super nice and helpful. Even in the busy traffic, it’s fun just sitting there and seeing how crazy it is,” he said, reflecting on the chaotic yet exhilarating charm of Indian streets.
Exploring India Beyond the Tourist Trail
Their visit to India is not just about sightseeing; it’s about creating unique travel content that showcases India’s diverse culture. Over the next seven days, the duo plans to explore Nagaland’s tribal regions and attend the Maha Shivratri celebrations at the Isha Foundation in Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu.
Speaking about their content goals, Kristen explained, “We wanted to do things beyond the usual tourist attractions. We’re heading to a tribal area in Nagaland to explore and capture its essence. As for the Maha Shivratri festival, we’ve only seen videos, but we’re expecting it to be mind-blowing.”
Meeting Bollywood Stars and Indian Fans
One of the biggest highlights of their visit so far was meeting Bollywood actor Sanjay Dutt and actress Jacqueline Fernandez. Jackson was particularly thrilled, saying, “We met Baba. We are his best friends now—he even told us to call him Baba. He was just so cool, calm, and collected.”
Kristen humorously added, “Jacqueline was really friendly and cool. She can dance way better than us. Picture a big old fridge bouncing on springs—that was us trying to dance next to her!”
They also expressed their admiration for Indian fans, who have shown them immense love and enthusiasm. “Indian fans are so animated, vocal, and full of energy. Unlike in other places, where people hesitate to show support, Indians are loud and proud,” Kristen said.
A Passion for Cricket and Indian Players
Jackson, an avid cricket fan, acknowledged India’s cricketing excellence despite joking about the India-Australia rivalry. “Indians are super supportive, except when it comes to the Australian cricket team,” he laughed.
However, he admitted his admiration for Jasprit Bumrah and Virat Kohli, calling Bumrah the best bowler in the world and Kohli a delight to watch, even when not at his peak. “Australia vs. India matches are always unpredictable. Either team could dominate, making it one of the best rivalries in cricket,” he remarked.
