What profession were you in before you started creating content, and when did you decide to take the plunge?
So, I did my BBA at NMIMS and worked in Pune as a data analyst before I decided to dive straight into music and make it my whole life!
When you started content creation, did you ever think you’d grow so much?
There was always a hope that people would hear my songs and appreciate them as I did. I have been very fortunate to receive so much love from people all around the world.
Any tips for budding creators? How is it different now than it was when you first started?
I think the world always has space for stories and storytellers in any form. As long as people are honest with themselves and the craft they intend to put out, there will always be an audience. That, and consistency. Unfortunately, the world is constantly being fed with so much that consistency is the only way to stay relevant.
How cluttered is your space and what do you do to stand out?
As I mentioned, staying true to yourself. I was very clear from the start that I wanted to write my songs, sing my songs, and be the only one on stage performing them. I think the moniker “Just a Boy with a Guitar” worked well in my favor
Any crazy fan stories?
Just hours before the Mumbai show of my Guldasta Tour in January, my team got a DM from a fan who wanted to propose to his girlfriend. We jumped on the idea because this was the first time we had pulled off something like this, and the couple got engaged mid-show. It was a beautiful moment, and I’ll hold it special for a long time.
Tell us about a brand you really enjoyed creating content for.
I want to work with all brands! I enjoy working on content that allows me to explore more sides of my creativity—be it visually, aesthetically, or even with audio
You can’t take long breaks from the internet, and no matter how you feel, you have to show up regularly. Do you sometimes feel under pressure to be consistent and post content regularly?
There is a constant reminder that I should engage with the people who love me. Fortunately, over the last few years, my audience has realized that I’m an introvert, and I need my space and time to work on music or post online. So I tend to show up with significant gaps between releases. However, I’m working on it, and hopefully, I can show up more regularly.
What was the defining moment for you?
Every year I surprise myself with more and more defining moments—I think that’s my definition of growth. Having two #1 songs in the country, a solo sold-out tour, working with the United Nations, and being a part of India’s Forbes 30 under 30 are just some of the achievements that remind me I’m growing and have so much more to achieve
How is content creation different from other professions? What are the perks and challenges?
There’s never a stop or a day off. Once you get into this space, you tend to never switch off. But the reward is seeing yourself work for your creativity and sharing it with the world. I love making music and storytelling. It’s so much more fulfilling than what I studied.
Tell us about the ups and downs you’ve experienced before you got this far.
Burnout and self-doubt are, unfortunately, very common in this space. Many artists I look up to talk about the same thing. It’s inevitable for any creative person to hit a roadblock sometimes.
Who are your favorite content creators and who do you wish to collaborate with?
I’d love to work with Billie Eilish, Ed Sheeran, and so many more. They are some of the biggest names in the world, and I’ve been a fan for many years now
Which is your most viral reel ? How long did it take you to create it, and did you anticipate its success? Reel Link
I’ve received a lot of love for Husn and Jo Tum Mere Ho, which were the last two songs I’ve released. I am very grateful and blown away by how everyone related to the lyrics. I think the fact that everyone has a love story—either happy or sad—is enough proof that all love songs have an audience..
What’s next for you?
More music, always! I hope to go back on tour next year with loads of new songs. Hopefully, I’ll even work on a few collaborations.
