What profession were you in before you started creating content, and when did you decide to take the plunge?
I was interested in sketching, and my brother suggested that I upload my work on Facebook. My journey began by sharing my artwork on YouTube, where I posted sketches of different celebrities. This led to creating a vlog channel around my daily life updates, which gained significant attention on the internet.
When you started content creation, did you ever think you’d grow so much?
Honestly, I wasn’t expecting it. I started my art channel in 2015 and my vlog channel in 2019. I just focused on my work without setting any specific goals or limits on how much I wanted to achieve. I simply enjoyed my work and didn’t worry too much about the results.
Any tips for budding creators? How is it different now than it was when you first started?
To budding creators, I would say always strive to create something new and be persistent with your work. Trust me, hard work always pays off, so have patience. When I started, very few people were involved in content creation, and most people didn’t even understand the concept. I hardly received any encouragement, but I kept pursuing it. Now, things are different, and almost everyone wants to become a content creator. It has become easier, but only if you work hard.
How cluttered is your space and what do you do to stand out?
Today, anyone with a smartphone can become a content creator, and people from different age groups are interested in joining the trend. Platforms like YouTube, LinkedIn, Snapchat, and Instagram are also becoming avenues to monetize content. So, yes, the space is cluttered, but not everyone is making the mark as expected. As for myself, I try my best to be authentic and put my heart into my work. I believe my audience can see that through my content, and that’s what helps me stand out.
Any crazy fan stories?
I wouldn’t call them crazy because I’m grateful for all the love I receive. But if I have to share a fan moment, a recent one would be when a boy came to my house with a permanent tattoo of my picture on his chest, which surprised all of us. It was overwhelming, and I requested him and all my viewers not to take such a step.
Tell us about a brand you really enjoyed creating content for.
I’ve enjoyed working with most of the brands I’ve collaborated with, but I particularly enjoyed shooting a vlog on the set of The Great Indian Kapil Show with Netflix. It was really fun, and I’d love to work with them again in the future.
You can’t take long breaks from the internet, and no matter how you feel, you have to show up regularly. Do you sometimes feel under pressure to be consistent and post content regularly?
I don’t see it as a burden, and after all these years, creating content has become a part of my lifestyle. Every day, millions of people wait for my vlogs, and they have showered me with love and supported me throughout my journey. I now consider it my responsibility to upload vlogs on time.
What was the defining moment for you?
The defining moment for me was when we moved from Haryana to Uttarakhand. While I was happy to take my family to the place we had always dreamed of living, it was heartbreaking to leave our childhood home and the memories we had there.
How is content creation different from other professions? What are the perks and challenges?
Content creation is a 24/7 job. We are constantly searching for fresh, unique ideas that align with the audience’s interests. It’s completely different from other professions and not as easy as people think.
Tell us about the ups and downs you’ve experienced before you got this far.
The first two years were very difficult. I would spend hours creating art, editing videos, and uploading them to YouTube, but I received very few views. Two of my channel’s events even got deleted, but I never gave up. Now, when I see the love people shower me with, I feel that all the struggles have paid off and were worthwhile.
